Kai caught the movement, but with as brief as it was there wasn't any time to do anything but meet it with the thoughtful, sleepy look that was already on his face. There were some guesses he could make about Shinji's background, but he was trying not to do that. There really was no way to know on his own, after all. He couldn't guess what Shinji's definition of normal was.

So he wouldn't.
