Affurgato Mingle: July edition
♥ Who: Open to all
♥ Where: Affurgato
♥ When: This week
♥ What: An open mingle at the restaurant which is... mysteriously celebratory!
♥ Rating: who knows, probably PG/13ish?
Regulars of Affurgato might notice things have spiced up a little bit in the last several days; the decor is a little brighter, the staff more upbeat, and the food, while tasty as ever, is a little different. The restaurant is advertising a summer menu of slow-cooked BBQ sliders, sweet potato fries with honey butter dip, grilled pineapple and watermelon slices, and warm peach cobbler with ice cream. The prices are slightly more premium than usual, but ooh, doesn't it all smell worth it? Newcomers might even get a discount, if the right elf twin gets their bill. But how do you know which one's the right twin? ...Yeah, good luck with that.
For this week, the menu will include two curious additions as well: a Thanksgiving-esque meal including fresh slabs of turkey and stuffing, flavoured with bacon grease, and a slice of rainbow layer cake. The cats are very attentive, especially to recognizably good tippers, and there's a display sign outside the door with a doodle of a binicorn in flashy sunglasses shouting the words "ONE YEAR MORE, NERDS", which might be weird to those who know that Affurgato opened about six months ago. Ah, well.
Also noteworthy is the fact that an actual, tangible magical bicicorn will be running around for the first 45 minutes of every daily shift that the restaurant is open, trying to scoop people up onto his back and deposit them in front of the shop. You're here now, so you might as well get a meal, right? Don't question it.
Come one, come all! Enjoy some good food and the company of your neighbours, maybe visit the elves and see what's up.

[ The priests were talking about some gods needing power through human contact and whatnot when he first arrived here. It's ironic how a civilization that excelled in technology needed gods to keep their world alive.
On the flip side, with Honerva's explanation, it does make more sense that his powers are disabled by default, especially when he's been considered to be the strongest sorcerer in his homeworld. ]
Do you guys know if the gods are sharing their powers with each other? I mean, I have a feeling that not all gods get the same amount of energy.
[ Considering prior to showing up at this cafe, he's run into two people who were averse to human contact, he's going to assume that not all people who were brought here are actively helping with the original request. ]

[ What a question, the answer something of a "yes and no". But she had researched this matter personally, so she can at least explain further. ]
However, the energy that is generated does unify, regardless of the composition. We have witnessed the effects of that cumulative power. The city itself was much different when we first arrived, smaller and far more barren, but there has been significant growth and change just a few months ago.

[ It's a bummer that there's still a lot of things that haven't been figured out, although Satoru himself isn't worried about it too much. When the other does mention how things have changed in the city, it does remind him of another conversation he's had a few days prior. ]
Ah, right! A guy did let me know how things did change since the first group arrived last year. I think the guy's name was Prompto, and he was nice enough to give me a tour when I first arrived here. He's actually recommended this place, too!

[ When he speaks further to explain, her ears give a surprised, but pleased wiggle. That's certainly a name to soften her expression. ]
... Is that so? He is a good friend of mine, so you can trust him to not have led you astray.

Ahh, so I take it that you've been here since last year also? I guess that'd be the correct assumption since you do work at this cafe with an anniversary celebration.
no subject
We have been here for a year, but the cafe itself was established a few months ago. This 'anniversary' is more personal, for the owners... it only happens to coincide otherwise with the timing.
[ For some reason, it's just hard to say plainly that it's a birthday party, even if she knows what's up. ]

[ He guessed wrong, but that's fine since it's part of his learning process. He may act smart and know-it-all, but he's never was an honor student. In fact, he was more of a problem student being yelled at for retaining information poorly while he as in high school.
He's also not curious enough to butt into other people's personal affairs so he decides to not ask any further than that. ]
Anywho, thanks so much for all the info! It's so much handier to learn what other people who're brought here know than just from what the temple priests were saying. That way, I don't end up doubling the efforts, you know?

It was no trouble. No experience is truly the same, but it helps to vary sources and perspective when arriving somewhere unfamiliar.
[ That all said, her gaze lifts toward the serving window where an order seems to be set out. How's that for service? ]
All that said, it seems your meal is ready. I'll retrieve for you.

Awesome! I'm super excited to try them out.
[ He does mean it, although his usual smile and demeanor probably ends up diminishing his sincerity. ]

[ Honerva doesn't know him well enough to determine what his usual smile and demeanor might mean, at least.
When she retrieves the tray and brings it over, however, he might notice that while her hands are placed as though she's supporting it, she isn't quite touching it directly, all the more evident when it the plates are carefully set upon the table for him. ]
