Affurgato Mingle: July edition
♥ Who: Open to all
♥ Where: Affurgato
♥ When: This week
♥ What: An open mingle at the restaurant which is... mysteriously celebratory!
♥ Rating: who knows, probably PG/13ish?
Regulars of Affurgato might notice things have spiced up a little bit in the last several days; the decor is a little brighter, the staff more upbeat, and the food, while tasty as ever, is a little different. The restaurant is advertising a summer menu of slow-cooked BBQ sliders, sweet potato fries with honey butter dip, grilled pineapple and watermelon slices, and warm peach cobbler with ice cream. The prices are slightly more premium than usual, but ooh, doesn't it all smell worth it? Newcomers might even get a discount, if the right elf twin gets their bill. But how do you know which one's the right twin? ...Yeah, good luck with that.
For this week, the menu will include two curious additions as well: a Thanksgiving-esque meal including fresh slabs of turkey and stuffing, flavoured with bacon grease, and a slice of rainbow layer cake. The cats are very attentive, especially to recognizably good tippers, and there's a display sign outside the door with a doodle of a binicorn in flashy sunglasses shouting the words "ONE YEAR MORE, NERDS", which might be weird to those who know that Affurgato opened about six months ago. Ah, well.
Also noteworthy is the fact that an actual, tangible magical bicicorn will be running around for the first 45 minutes of every daily shift that the restaurant is open, trying to scoop people up onto his back and deposit them in front of the shop. You're here now, so you might as well get a meal, right? Don't question it.
Come one, come all! Enjoy some good food and the company of your neighbours, maybe visit the elves and see what's up.

[ Without having prepared things to say or to offer, but accommodation is something of a learned skill as well. ]
'Making friends' is not something I would ever have considered easy to do, though it must be easy for you, if you've made one of me, after all.
no subject
Funnily enough, Pyra doesn't think of it this way at all. Rather, compared to some other people, Honerva had been relatively easier to befriend. She has reasons to think this, too. ]
Oh-- oh, that's not true. I think you're not giving yourself enough credit.
no subject
You are aware that there was a long time before I even understood the meaning of such a word. Such a concept... does not come easy. I am now able to recognize that once it is there, it should not be hidden. However, you do not hesitate with such considerations.
no subject
That's very nice of you to say, but it's only so easy to say because you are kind.
no subject
She didn't understand it then, but it was just the sort of person Pyra was, sometimes seeming far too naive and then yet surprising her at every turn with her compassion. And yet she would call her kind and insist upon it. Her ears give a slight flicker. ]
Well... it remains an honor to hear that from you.
[ As strange as it is. But now she'll rise, because if Pyra happens to glance toward the order window, she'll see a fresh tray being set out with her request. ]
... If you'll pardon me a moment to retrieve it, your order is ready.
no subject
—How? How was her order put it??
When she returns: ] U-Um, Honerva.... I’ve a question.
How did you send the order to begin with?
no subject
... Hm? I sent it telepathically. We had a channel open, so it was making use of a convenience.
no subject
Is it... is that always on?
[ But no, it couldn't be. When Honerva had needed Lup to come over quickly, they had needed to call her. But then how does it work? How does it turn off? On? She has many questions. ]
no subject
[ Psychic, magic... there's enough that just seems ordinary after a while that one forgets it might seem strange to other people. ]
no subject
Magic is-- it's amazing, what it can do. [ There's so much she doesn't understand! ]
no subject
[ She can follow their lead in her own unique way, but there was much that she would not have considered, if not for them. ]

[ Magic was such a broad, if useless term at times, to explain what could not be explained. She could diversify with her energy, because that was the nature of it, but it was still complicated. ]
How we came by it, how we apply it... that is different. They have a proper basis for such things, and there is much I would rather... learn anew.
no subject
Learn anew... Such as, applying it differently, or discovering how to manipulate another form of, erm, magic?
no subject
Perhaps... it is a little of both, in a manner of speaking.
[ She was learning to apply it differently, but the source still had its own problems. ]
The power that I have... the means I have learned to apply it, are not entirely practical for... ordinary living. New branches have opened up to me simply by being able to understand the world around me in a different way.
no subject
Are they safe to explore?
no subject
What is the nature of your concern?
no subject
Your safety, Honerva!
no subject
[ She had thought, for a moment, that Pyra might yet be scared of her than... for her. ]
There are always risks. Whether it is from the magic I already know or wish to learn, or may have learned were paths open to me at other times. I have glimpsed paths that are not free for me to walk, and so I must follow others.
no subject
You don't have to take the most dangerous ones... And you don't have to walk alone.
no subject
There... was once a time when I believed those were the only paths worth pursuing further.
[ The higher the risk, then surely the greater the discovery to follow. The thirst for knowledge, from a time she barely remembers, yet she knows this all to be true, for how it rallies against her more cautious nature now. ]
But here... I am not alone. I have lost too much for others to suffer from... future mistakes I may make.
no subject
[ --She knows she can, because they had worked on a project together, once, measuring the energy of the gods. Using Honerva's power, they hadn't cause any harm or destruction, but gathered information. It was extraordinary.
Had they be closer, this would have been the part she'd have taken Honerva's hand. ] I can't wait to see what else it is that you make, Honerva. I'm sure it'll be beautiful.
no subject
Looking forward in light of that was... a challenge indeed. But her expression relaxes, even as Pyra speaks these impossibly kind words. ]
... We shall see what comes of it.
no subject
The future doesn't wait, you know.
no subject
All the more reason to focus on the present.
