[Could Magolor have done this over the network? Of course. Maybe people would have appreciated that more. But that's not how he chooses to go about this: over the network, he'll be easier to ignore, and that's no good. And over the network, he can't give anyone any earnest handshakes or touches on the shoulder to contribute to his bank account, I mean, the wellbeing of this planet! Praise Diacht!

So instead of ringing up the populace to ask for their input, he's doing this old-school.

Upon leaving their houses today, anytime between midmorning and late afternoon, any character is subject to being hunted down and approached by a perky little hovering alien with a clipboard and pen in his hands. He's pretty fast in waving people down, and pretty relentless:]

Helloooooo~! Won't you spare me just a moment? I promise not to keep you! You'll be glad you did. This is for the good of our community, and I can't do it without your help!

[He at least sounds and looks very earnest about this, like a bright-eyed canvasser on their first day on the streets.

Or maybe it's something else. Maybe you've seen him lurking out there for hours now and want to give him an earful, or like, a snack or something, which would be much appreciated. Maybe you have some bone to pick with him. The world is your oyster! He sure is making himself obnoxiously visible.]

Oh, I've met her. She helped me out with one of my tasks! She is that type, isn't she? You'll be in good hands, Rin. She's keeping you well fed?

[It occurs to him now that from what he'd heard of Rin's life before, she probably falls into the "has had it much worse than this planet" category of people, and may not even have anything to complain about at all. Hmm. But it's still worth asking.]

Yep yep! [ she smiles happily ]

Miss Aqua is reaaaaaally nice. What about you Lord Magolor?

Well . . . my roommate and I are doing our best, but neither of us are any good in the kitchen, so it's been rough going. No kind cooking soul has adopted us yet!

[In other words, Magolor has blocked any third or fourth roommates from moving into their home, leaving two aliens with not the greatest life skills alone in a world where all the food is hard to work with, and despite this being largely his fault, he's not ashamed to act sad about it.]

[ She laughs ]

But Lord Magolor is an adult! That's why - adults don't get adopted!

I know! More's the pity. Maybe the issue is that Taranza and I need to adopt someone else instead, hmm? Someone who knows how to cook!

[It's becoming more and more appealing an idea, despite the invasion of privacy . . . he laughs, though.]

Hehe, we'll see. Anyway, have you had any problems? If you could ask our hosts here for aaaanything to make you happier, what would you ask for? Except people. Sorry, I don't think that's a request I can make!

Maybe! [ She giggles at the thought ]

Flowers! [ She says immediately ] Rin thinks its very sad that there aren't a lot of flowers here.

[He writes that down, dutifully. By now he's getting used to writing down this one.]

I didn't realize you humans cared about them so much. Not that I don't understand. I wouldn't mind some nature myself! But almost everyone mentions that one.

Rin likes them because they're pretty. They make a place seem more cheerful! [ She shrugs ]

Even Lord Jaken didn't mind a flower crown, sometimes.

Then I'll see what I can do! Luckily my roommate knows alllll about taking care of flowers, so I can pick his brain for advice if I need to. Lord Jaken was one of your youkai, right? Grumpy kind of guy?

[He remembers the name coming up before, but takes a guess on the personality. "Even" he didn't mind flower crowns, huh? So she's the sort to just offer one to a grouchy youkai . . . that tracks, yep.]

Yep! Lord Jaken is Lord Sesshoumaru's retainer. But mostly he's very silly and grumpy.

The sort that's fun to tease?

[He would also put a flower crown right on the head of someone like that.]

[ She giggles and nods ]

Yep! He squawks and flails a lot!

You're doing good work, Rin! That kind of person really needs to lighten up!

[Could Magolor be a bad influence? Naaaaah.]

I've got a friend or two like that myself. Maybe you'll get to meet them someday. I'm sure they'd get along just great on this planet! Your Jaken, too.

That's what Rin thinks too! [ She beams at him ]

Rin would like to see Lord Jaken again. He wouldn't be happy here though! He doesn't like to leave Lord Sesshoumaru at all.

Neither do you, but you're happy here, right?

[He tilts his head at her again. . . . Of course, this is what he's asking people in the most general sense today, gathering information about everyone's needs so he can leverage that against their hosts. But asking this now, he realizes that he does also care about her answer on some small personal level, unexpectedly even to himself.

Awwww.]

[ She beams and nods ]

Rin is used to being left! Rin's human, and Lord Sesshoumaru is youkai - Rin can't always be with him, Rin knows. And people here are very nice.

Glad to hear it!

[And he even means it.]

All the humans here sure are worried about you kids. I figured you were probably covered with all that fuss.

The humans here are really nice! [ She agrees, beaming at him ]

Sometimes they aren't, so Rin was a bit worried.

I don't know if they're worse than anyone else out there. But you've only met humans and youkai, right?

Yep. [ she nods ]

Rin never knew there were anything else!

I think most humans are the same as you there. Either way . . . all types of people have bad eggs among them. Even ones who aren't human! But so far so good. I'd like to think there aren't any here.

[He is well aware that he's probably among the worst of them, and can only hope there's no one worse than he is hanging around causing trouble here. If there is, he'll just have to take care of that if it becomes a problem, especially for people like Rin.]

That's true!

[ She smiles and hugs him ]

But everyone here seems really nice!

[A hug . . . at least he's getting used to them, and hugs back without much pause.]

You can just tell me if anyone isn't! Remember that.

[ Rin is quite happy to hug him until he gets used to it! ]

Rin will. And Lord Magolor is Rin's friend too, so you gotta do the same!

Oh, I can take care of myself. You don't need to worry about that!

[Probably. He can't imagine actually going to her, or anyone for that matter, for real help with a real issue, but on the other hand, maybe he can be gratuitously sad at her someday if he needs to be . . . hmm.]

I'm a grown-up, after all! But you take care of yourself pretty well.
