♥ Who: Magolor and eeeeveryone (who wants in)
♥ Where: Chillin' outside the housing complexes
♥ When: One fine day in the beginning of August/Achtom
♥ What: Everyone loves a good survey, and even if you don't, you're all getting one anyway.
♥ Rating: G, no warnings here
♥ Note: I'm happy to match your preferred format, so proceed as you wish!
[Could Magolor have done this over the network? Of course. Maybe people would have appreciated that more. But that's not how he chooses to go about this: over the network, he'll be easier to ignore, and that's no good. And over the network, he can't give anyone any earnest handshakes or touches on the shoulder to contribute to his bank account, I mean, the wellbeing of this planet! Praise Diacht!
So instead of ringing up the populace to ask for their input, he's doing this old-school.
Upon leaving their houses today, anytime between midmorning and late afternoon, any character is subject to being hunted down and approached by a perky little hovering alien with a clipboard and pen in his hands. He's pretty fast in waving people down, and pretty relentless:]
Helloooooo~! Won't you spare me just a moment? I promise not to keep you! You'll be glad you did. This is for the good of our community, and I can't do it without your help!
[He at least sounds and looks very earnest about this, like a bright-eyed canvasser on their first day on the streets.
Or maybe it's something else. Maybe you've seen him lurking out there for hours now and want to give him an earful, or like, a snack or something, which would be much appreciated. Maybe you have some bone to pick with him. The world is your oyster! He sure is making himself obnoxiously visible.]

I sure have. It doesn't inspire much confidence, right? I get why we're in this position, but that's not a minor issue. Someone could get seriously hurt!

[With a thoughtful look since Magolor brings up a good question.]
If I could ask the Gods anything, is more books in the libraries with the knowledge that is applicable and of use. I haven't seen a pharmacy either containing much-needed medicines. It was something I am trying to work on, but I have no idea where to start.
no subject
Are you a healer, by any chance?
no subject
I am. I was thinking about it. However, I am out of practice and my methods are old by most. The healing I know is limited to herbs, making tea, acupuncture, and energy healing. What it is, I would transfer my chi, my spiritual energy to the injured area and heal it.
If I have the right books to study, I can remember.

Sounds enough like what I'm used to myself. If it works, it works! And it's more likely to work than some other forms of medicine in a place like this, with our limited resources. We're not going to get the medical staff for a hospital. Good thing there aren't enough of us to need anything that involved.
no subject
True, but in a real emergency, that could mean trouble. I am interested in saving lives. Until then, while I'm looking for a solution, I hope we can hold ourselves together.
[For now, Mu discovered this lack of resources fairly quickly.]
It's true there are limited resources. For one thing, this is what I discovered. I have difficulty finding wood and paper. I managed to find wood to make a flute out of it, but it cost a lot of dora due how scarce wood is.
no subject
I see . . . it had slipped my mind. Of course they can't offer natural resources like wood casually. It doesn't matter for a technological society, but it sure does for a wizard.

I noticed that when I'm in the library too. There aren't any paper books, though I keep looking for it. All I find are these tablets.
I suppose that's why they kept all plants in the botanical garden.
[OOC: This is my reference! It was recently updated.]

[But he'd bought it anyway, obviously. Magolor waves his notebook in illustration. This thing!]
Old-fashioned, I know, but it's got its benefits. I think they thought I was quaint when I picked it up. Or maybe that I'm a tree murderer . . .
no subject
Tree-murderer? Well, that makes the two of us. I'm old fashioned myself, written everything by hand. Typing into the tablet is something I need to get used to.
I think you should check out the library sometime. Their collection of stories isn't anything I have ever read before. I find most of the stories can be quite robotic.
[That's a pun. It comes to no surprise if most of the authors are robots and were very clinical, sterile, and scientific in their thinking in their texts and literature.
A pause, a beat. He realized he haven't been properly introduced yet.]
Ah, I didn't catch your name. I am Mu by the way.
[Mu isn't used to handshaking, being reserved by nature, as he typically bows or nods usually. But in this world, a handshake is valuable.
So he offers Magolor his hand for a handshake.]
no subject
[He offers his own hand over readily, for a perfectly ordinary, firm, cheerful handshake. He also won't be the first to let go; things that are valuable are of particular interest to him, after all. Physical contact is now one of those. So he just holds on, with an upbeat little smile.]
And I'll check out that library. I haven't had the time yet, but everyone needs a break now and again. I'd just love to see what these people think of entertainment! They're had more than one weird idea about all that . . .
no subject
Magolor...that's fine. I'm new here myself, so I'm just adjusting and trying to get settled. I wouldn't mind exchanging notes of my findings as I'm studying this place.
[With a nod, Mu tries to get his name right. There aren't many people he knows from the other worlds being the city is all the world they know, enclosed within a heavily guarded wall. But it's good to know who are his allies here.]
So we're friends now. I'll help you and you help me. So if you need help, let me know.
[At the mention of entertainment.]
Have you seen the movies or tried the VR cafes in the entertainment district?
no subject
[Really, it seems like a huge waste of time to him, and his ears flatten in some undisguised Judgement at the whole setup. Even so, he keeps Mu's hand clasped in his. They're friends now, after all. How handy it is in this place to make those, no pun intended.]
Talk about a culture clash. Or is that just me? I can't imagine the otherworlders here are going to be as interested in that stuff as the natives are, but they really go hard on promoting it.
no subject
You did? I see. I haven't seen such technology back home, but then again I spend more time living out in nature. So the entertainment in that district is something new to me as this world is too technological to me.
[Anyway, that's a firm handshake and Mu is going to slowly let go for now.]
