It's not like he can argue about it being cool - it is! It's really cool... it's also still really wild for Shinji to try and wrap his head around the concept that he made this, even after watching them grow under his own care and supervision.

Maybe it's just the idea of having done something of his own volition, not because someone said he should, and sticking through it until the end. The thought that, not only did he make the choice to do this on his own, but the result of it was something this good. That's... pretty unbelievable.

And yet, here they are.

He gives his own slice another little moment of awed silence before finally taking a bite of it. Mh! Just as sweet as Kai's!

"It'd be nice to do something like this again next year."

It'd probably be hard to get another crop going right away, such is the downside of No Eternal Summer. Alas.
